The predominance of jute industry in West Bengal dates back to hundreds of years and is mainly cultivated along the river sides. Jute is a natural fiber extracted from bark of plant, spun into strong threads to make variety of products.

The name of Kalpi’s Handmade Paper has been referred many a times in ancient poetry which makes a representation of its history and artistry.
