Design means "a decorative pattern" and Gaatha is a Hindi word for "stories". Keeping the same philosophy in mind, every product handcrafted at Design Gaatha has a story behind it; inspired by our rich heritage & culture !
Our Vision
Working with over 50+ artisans across India, Design Gaatha is committed towards a sustainable growth of the entire value chain. We feel the people behind these crafted beautiful products are the most precious and deserve equal appreciation and compensation. The happiness of facilitating them to grow is an unmatched pleasure. India is a country full of talent and skills where the rich history has so much for textiles, art, craft and creativity; Design Gaatha wishes to contribute a little in keeping that history alive. And while doing so; special care is taken to ensure all products & processes are environmental friendly and socially ethical. We are strictly against child labour.
Our Story
With adjacent seats for almost three and a half years in the same organization Gap Inc (Delhi), Nidhi and Kritika often used to discuss about their entrepreneurial aspirations. Sharing the same hometown Ranchi, they always had an unsaid connect & the two become very good friends in no time. Chit chat over evening snacks and dinner get-together helped add up to the strong bond.
Due to pre-occupied office schedule, they never happened to explore their entrepreneurial aspirations. However, things were destined differently. Soon after leaving their jobs for different personal reasons, their paths crossed again and gave shape to their ambitions in the form of Design Gaatha Home & Living. With a sole moto to bring DESIGNER home and living products to everyone’s reach, the two joined hands to build the exclusive home décor brand Design Gaatha where every design is inspired by our rich heritage and culture.
Founders
Nidhi and Kritika both have zero compromise towards quality. Every product at Design Gaatha is scrutinized thoroughly before bringing up in the market. Their sole goal is to bring premium quality & designer products to market which are easy to care at home and can solve both aesthetics and utility purpose.
Being more inclined towards the crafts and diverse talent of India, handcraft is always preferred by them whether it is fabric or process involved in manufacturing of the product.
Kritika
Gold Medalist in Bachelor of Fashion Technology (NIFT, Hyderabad) and State Topper in Class 10th, Kritika has served various merchandiser roles for 9 years in leading organizations of apparel industry. Her zeal to execute each role with finesse has made her excel in all the projects throughout life. Having inclination towards numbers and statistics inspired her to pursue specialization in Business Analytics. She believes that data analytics is a must in today’s era across all the industrial segments and can add a lot of value to decision making and derivations. A content writer by hobby,one of her close-to-heart dreams is to write a book before her age clock ticks 50. This basket of unmatched skills gave Design Gaatha its Co-founder & Managing Director. From managing marketing, sales, operations, finance, exploring new growth plans and expansion, business legalities and related collaborations to contributing her industrial knowledge towards product development; Kritika has been a versatile talent shaping up the brand to grow many folds.
Nidhi
With a background of fashion designing and post-graduation in drawing & painting (Jiwaji University Gwalior) along with MBA (IMT, Ghaziabad), Nidhi is an innovator and color visionary. She has had an inherent love and interest towards art & creativity throughout her life. Besides serving roles of designer & merchandiser for 18 years in various leading organizations of apparel industry, her love towards painting pushed her to always go an extra mile to live her favorite hobby while managing the pressure of a hectic office. She has been exhibiting her fine art for almost a decade now in different galleries and academies of New Delhi. This extra ordinary combination of artistic talent & technical skills gave Design Gaatha its Co-founder & Creative Director. From preparing mood boards, designing collections, sketching motifs, picking up right fabric, exploring right color combinations, deciding right ornamentation to executing the final product; Nidhi has been a dynamic pool of talent nurturing Design Gaatha’s foundation in getting the right products, design and quality.
